Silkeborg city offers cozy cafes, great shopping opportunities, and exciting art and culture. Also enjoy the beautiful harbor area. The town can be reached in 10 minutes by car or train from Svejbæk St. or 15 km on foot.

Hjejlen is the world’s oldest coal-fired paddle steamer in operation. Take a tour directly from Skyttehuset or sail towards Himmelbjerget or towards Silkeborg.
For families with children, AQUA Aquarium & Wildlife Park is a fantastic experience. Here you can get up close to Danish animals, both in water and on land. There are also playgrounds and water play areas where children can have fun.
Silkeborg Bad served as a spa until 1983. Today it is an art museum surrounded by a beautiful sculpture park. There is plenty of history from World War II, and there is a famous troll named Stærke Storm. Can you find it?
You’ll find Museum Jorn beautifully located in Silkeborg right next to the Gudenå River. The museum was founded by Asger Jorn (1914-1973), one of the CoBrA artists and one of the most significant Danish artists of the 20th century.

The Tollund Man, the world’s best-preserved bog body, was found in 1950 in a bog near Silkeborg, and it turned out to be quite a discovery.
Silkeborg Bunker Museum takes you on an exciting journey back to the large military headquarters at Silkeborg Bad – led by the German General von Hanneken. The museum is housed in one of the 24 bunkers that still stand around the forests.
