Only 6 km from the campsite is the iconic Himmelbjerget, where you can enjoy a spectacular view over the Søhøjlandet landscape. Around the mountain, you will find lovely hiking trails with breathtaking views.

From the campsite, you can board Denmark’s oldest steamboat, Hjejlen. You can take Hjejlen or one of the sister boats to the harbor in Silkeborg and return or take the 15 km hike through the most beautiful nature. Buy your ticket directly from Hjejleselskabet.
Skyttehusets Outdoor Camp is beautifully located on the banks of the Gudenå, Denmark’s longest river. Here you can relax in the tranquility of nature, take a peaceful canoe trip, or challenge yourself with a ride on a paddleboard.
Slåen Sø is one of Denmark’s cleanest and most unspoiled lakes. Around Slåen Sø, you will find some of the best viewpoints in the area.
One of the most popular viewpoints is the “Kongestolen”, located close to Slåen Sø. From Kongestolen, you can enjoy a breathtaking panoramic view of the landscape, and it is a perfect place to take a break and admire nature.

The Rediscovered Bridge is a cultural-historical gem and a piece of revived Danish history – covered by an embankment for 85 years but excavated and restored in 2014. Today, the bridge is a magnificent sight and an even greater experience.

The vintage Bryrup-Vrads Railway is run by a group of enthusiasts who strive to preserve the old railway materials, buildings, and facilities, and to maintain vintage railway operations on the Bryrup – Vrads stretch.
The railway operates on a section of approximately 5 km of the closed Horsens-Bryrup-Silkeborg Railway, which was shut down in 1968. The trip goes from Bryrup through a forest area past the lakes Kvindsø, Kulsø, and Snabe Igelsø to Vrads station. A very beautiful trip, which is rightfully called “Denmark’s Most Beautiful Railway”
Vrads Station is operated as a restaurant and café. Vrads Station is always open when trains run according to the regular timetable.
Explore the world’s largest manmade limestone mines and experience a magnificent subterranean world.
In an endless labyrinth of mining tunnels, you will find caves as large as cathedrals, trickling streams, and underground lakes. A unique underground experience that tells of an impressive labor performed by hand by tough Central Jutland women and men.
It is said that there are a total of 60 km of tunnels in the area. At Mønsted Limestone Mines, you can wander through about 4 km of tunnels, 2 km of which are illuminated.
Mønsted Limestone Mines is a hibernation site for over 10,000 bats. Due to their hibernation, the mines are closed during the winter months.
In the middle of Silkeborg sits the troll Stærke Storm, a wooden sculpture made by artist Thomas Dambo, which is one of the hidden troll sculptures around Denmark – each with its own story to tell. Go out and see if you can find him – and uncover Stærke Storm’s backstory.
