Activities
The shooting house is fantastically located right by the Silkeborg Lakes.
The site has a marina with 8 guest boat spaces and a harbor for canoes and kayaks.
Therefore, we also offer many different opportunities and activities on the water.
If you want to explore the small beautiful coves of the lakes, we recommend renting one of our canoes, kayaks or maybe a SUP board and enjoy a trip on the calm waters between Ry and Silkeborg.
If you would rather explore most of the area and enjoy nature from the water, we recommend renting one of our motorboats, which will quickly take you through the 20 km stretch between Silkeborg and Ry.
With direct access from Skyttehusets Marina to 25 km of excellent fishing waters on the Silkeborg Lakes between Silkeborg and Ry, there are great opportunities to catch perch, pike, zander, etc.
Before you go fishing, it is important to familiarize yourself with the fishing regulations in the lakes.
If you are between 18 and 65 years old, you need to have a fishing license when you fish. The fishing license must be purchased before you cast your line, and it can be done easily and quickly online at fisketegn.dk.
If you want to fish in the Silkeborg Fishing Association’s waters, it requires a local fishing card for people from 14 years and older. The fishing card must be purchased together with the fishing license – you must have both. You can purchase the fishing card for the Gudenå and Silkeborg Lakes online here from Silkeborg Fishing Association.
See what fish species you can catch here. A detailed map with depth curves in the lakes and the fishing regulations can be found here.
If you have your own boat, you can rent a harbor space at Skyttehuset. If you come without, you can rent a motorboat from us. If you are considering a fishing trip over several days, feel free to contact us for a quote on accommodation and a motorboat.
Take a trip with the passenger boats or Hjejlen – the world’s oldest paddle steamer. They dock at Skyttehuset, and you can sail to Silkeborg or Himmelbjerget.
From Himmelbjerget you can walk back to Skyttehuset. It is a beautiful walk along Julsø, which takes about an hour.
You can also take a round trip to both Himmelbjerget and Silkeborg.
The trip through Borresø and Remstrup Å is absolutely fantastic with life on the water and the many beautiful lake villas around Sejs-Svejbæk and Silkeborg.
Slåensø is Denmark’s cleanest lake and is located about 1.5 km from Skyttehuset. Take a walk around the beautiful lake or enjoy a refreshing swim at one of the small bathing spots. The lake’s water comes from clean underground sources, so you can swim with your mouth open and quench your thirst while getting your daily exercise.
Julsø is the largest of the 3 Himmelbjerg Lakes near Silkeborg.
The Gudenå flows through Julsø, which is close to Silkeborg, and extends from Laven to Svejbæk.
Here you can check the temperature in Julsø, at Svejbæklund which is close to the campsite.
Avnsø is a small lake almost hidden in Østerskov near Silkeborg. It is possible to row directly into the lake from Brassø via Klüver’s Canal, a narrow canal that is now almost overgrown.
Avnsø is a side valley to the Gudenå and has the shape of a pair of lorgnettes, which are glasses with a nose clip and has historically been called Holger Danske’s glasses. It is not allowed to sail with a motorboat.
The first lake you encounter when you sail out from Skyttehuset towards Silkeborg is Borresø, which is beautifully situated and is one of the hidden gems for anglers in Denmark. If you sail left instead of right through Sejs Snævringen, you enter a smaller and super cozy area called Paradise.
Brassø, located in the southern part of Silkeborg and is the last of the Himmelbjerg Lakes before the lakes become Remstrup Å. You encounter Brassø if you sail through Borresø and Sejs Snævringen
Both Julsø, Brassø, and Borresø are a true paradise for anglers seeking an unforgettable fishing experience in beautiful surroundings.
